The Irish Way As a bagpiper, I play many gigs. Recently I was asked by a funeral director to play at a graveside service for a homeless man. He had no family or friends, so the service was to be at a pauper’s cemetery in the backcountry. As I was not familiar with the backwoods, I got lost and, being a typical man, I didn’t stop for directions. I finally arrived an hour late and saw the funeral guy had evidently gone and the hearse was nowhere in sight. There were only the diggers and crew left and they were eating lunch. I felt badly and apologized to the men for being late. I went to the side of the grave and looked down and the vault lid was already in place. I didn’t know what else to do, so I started to play. The workers put down their lunches and began to gather around. I played out my heart and soul for this man with no family and friends. I played like I’ve never played before for this homeless man. And as I played ‘Amazing Grace,’ the workers began to weep. They wept, I wept, we all wept together. When I finished I packed up my bagpipes and started for my car. Though my head hung low, my heart was full. As I opened the door to my car, I heard one of the workers say, “I never seen nothin’ like that before and I’ve been putting in septic tanks for twenty years.” Apparently, I’m still lost… It’s a man thing. A strange couple of weeks settling into my new home... so much of this town remains familiar but so many things have changed since I left for my first public school job back in 2009... It shows how dynamic South Korea is, new buildings seem to age and fade with amazing rapidity, are torn down and replaced, and some small aspect that used to exist is lost, never to return... and we head into another weekend with myself helping my little lady friend piece her new furniture together (inexplicably having lost several plastic washers, which I printed for her today) and try to answer a number of questions relating to what kinds of food and other offerings could help to develop her business... I have seen her running two small bars but suddenly, she acquired an itch for bigger premises, and so, here we are on a Friday night. Have a good weekend, everyone!

Here is another victim of White Supremacy. Colorado paraprofessional Kiarra Jones arrested for assaulting children with disabilities. Jones worked as a bus aide to help children with autism and other disabilities travel between school and their homes. Newly released footage shows Jones punching and stomping a disabled 10-year-old boy. Three families are now taking action against Jones, claiming they started noticing behavioral changes from their children about 6 months ago. They also noticed physical injuries including scratches, bruises, a lost tooth, broken toe, black eye, and other bruises. Jones was arrested on April 4 after surveillance footage showed her hitting a student in the abdomen and mouth.
