Pelosi’s Taiwan Trip Exposes Foolishness of Interventionism - The Washington Standard
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s “surprise” trip to Taiwan last week should be “Exhibit A” as to why interventionism is dangerous, deadly, and dumb. Though she claimed her visit won some sort of victory for democracy over autocracy, the stopover achieved nothing of the sort. It was a pointless gesture that ...

  • When/where/how did it go wrong? Spanish–American War? Wilsonian idealism? I don't think the USA invaded these countries because of "socialism" itself. I think it was because "Socialism = "USSR" & "USSR" = "Enemy Image". Nukes + Big Power Politics + Fears From WW2 + Entanglements From Wilsonian policies + Military-Industrial Complex + USSR/USA Imperialism Race + Geography Incentivizing a Bigger Military when Entering Foreign Entanglements Particularly Those In Europe Which Compounded Into The Military-Industrial Complex intervenes everywhere. This is situational and it's silly to claim it's mainly due to ideology. I hate liberal internationalism (however I believe the term should be more specific like "liberal internationalism imperialism". Liberal internationalism is a foreign policy doctrine that argues that liberal states should intervene in other sovereign states to pursue liberal objectives. Such intervention can include both military invasion and humanitarian aid. This view is contrasted to the isolationist, realist, or non-interventionist foreign policy doctrines; these critics characterize it as liberal interventionism." [See: John Quincy Adams' warning about the USA going "in search of monsters to destroy". Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations; entangling alliances with none. -- Thomas Jefferson [See: Dwight D. Eisenhower's hypocritical, but an interesting warning about the military-industrial complex. ] I don't believe the USA's problems are unique. USA's justification for imperialism is quite similar to the Roman Empire's justifications for imperialism. The Roman Empire claims that "hey right outside our borders is dangerous we must pacify the barbarians" the USA's empire says "hey this country is siding with our "enemy image" we must pacify them".

Ideological Tinkerbell Effect - describing things that adoptants of a particular system of ideas and ideals, think to exist – because of what the particular system of ideas and ideals suggestionizes (to its adoptants) to exist.

I think this perspective isn't asking "why" enough. It seems to be following a blueprint. I believe this video is ironically making similar mistakes the USA made.

  • Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador again said he will not recognize a winner of the U.S. presidential elections until all legal disputes are resolved.⠀

“We can’t make any kind of recognition of a government that is not yet legally and legitimately constituted,” he said at a press conference on Nov. 10. “It’s not up to us. That’s interventionism.”⠀
