When the economy is bad, it affects everything around you, it's not just the prices of things. It's also your rent, that may go up, your real property taxes will go up (or taxes in general). Because of this, there will be less money going into charities, and everyone will be hurting more. Petty crimes like theft will go up, stress will go up as well, causing domestic violence to go up as well. Because bills will go unpaid, also because there will be no heating or cooling in the home (if one can stay in the home). Homelessness will also go up, because evictions will go up because rents will go up because rents will go up to cover the costs of maintaining the property that you're on goes up. Mind you, property owners won't lower your rent when prices go down, most property owners are greedy. It's like that in Hawaii. It's a vicious circle.
