• Technology, The Information Age, and Perception: C-010 Coronavirus - The Perception of Fear

If this story is true and the characterization is accurate, how much of what we are told has any basis in fact? Months of #Hysteria, #Inaccuracies, and #Omissions only to discover that fear of what we are told is more dangerous and powerful than the actual things we are afraid of. This does not only address #Coronavirus, but also those other public dialogues offered as news and public service. How many of us will question our own perceptions of what we consider to be the truth? Even the statistical data could be factually incorrect.

  • Technology, The Information Age, and Perception: C-009 COVID-19 The Information Omitted - Viral Strains

What is a greater violation of trust? Being given false information or being given no information? Every news report on Corona virus treats quarantines and cases as if they are death rates. Creating the perception that the situation is far worse than it is in reality. One of the nuances missing in the reporting is that back in March there were two identified strains of COVID-19. One much more deadly than the other. Why has there never been a report on the mortality rate directly tied to these early identified strains? It would have given the public a reasonable perspective of which percentage of cases had a higher likely of death.

In April a report came out identifying up to 30 strains of COVID-19. Yet again, this information goes highly ignored and there are no reports or data relating death rates to any group of #ViralStrain. What is to be believed when the basic purpose of news is to inform yet they deny the consumer of their product that very opportunity? This is much about the quality of information as well as how each of us consumes and understands that information.

  • Technology, The Information Age, and Perception: C-008 Trust and the Election Process

Ever 2 years the United State goes though the process of choosing those who will represent us. It is the only time in which ones opinion actually counts. It is the most powerful form of speech. Voting Speech. Unlike ordinary "Opinion Speech", it is limited to one opinion per ballot. With the level of trust in media, our institutions, the very folks elected. How does one know that your vote was counted? Do you get a receipt allowing one to track their vote? Does one even know if the selection made is the way the vote was counted? With all the dialog about fraud, mail in voting, deceased voting, etc.. There is no dialog about the voters right to insure that their vote is legitimately applied. We have all this technology and no one has thought to use it to force accountability into the most important activity of society. Where are the voters rights? Where are our elected officials protecting the rights of their constituency? Have any of them even considered this?

  • Technology, The Information Age, and Perception: C-007 The Unthinkable is on the Legislative Agenda?

"With Great Power comes Great Responsibility"

With each passing decade the evolution of technology puts more power capabilities into the hands of the individual. How these abilities are put into use is telling. The article about the #MichiganHouse is very disconcerting. Not in the fact that the #Michigan House of Representatives voted to leave the decision to the individual. It is that they had to consider a bill on such an idea. The very concept that one would need to allow a #LocatorMicroChip #Implanted into your body as a #ConditionOfEmployment is offensive beyond description. Has technology and #Convenience become so dominate that the principles of #Liberty been lost? Has Caesar crossed the Rubicon?

No civilization can maintain itself without it. Every civilization goes through periods of #SocialUpheaval. This appears to be true currently. • Technology, The Information Age, and Perception: C-004 Social Media is The Agora, Forum, Curia of the Modern Society

Social media platforms are the modern example of how human behavior has changed very little. Even archeology sites of #Stonehenge and #GobekliTepi are testaments to this. Whether they are called #Agora, #Forum, or #Curia it is a recurring behavior of humanity to invent gathering places for the sharing of ideas. Like with any invention or activity, how it is used determines its value in being beneficial or detrimental. How are each one of us using this tool, this invention? Are we sharing knowledge, offering solutions? Are we expressing reason or just venting our feelings? One day (if it is not already happening) someone will write an algorithm to evaluate attitudes and perceptions of society, find new ideas, find talented people or any other expressible human attribute. Will they use the knowledge we are all providing for good or ill? What does the nature and history of human behavior tell you?

In modern society #Altruism is the great ethical measure. How one feels or what one intends or gives. Civilizations are not built on feelings. They are built on the exchange of #Value. One thing for another, #QuidProQuo. The ancient town of Motza teaches us that humans were engaged in #Commerce 3,000 years before the first civilization. • Technology, The Information Age, and Perception: C-001 The First Age of Reason

Humanity has never had access to so much knowledge and so quickly distributed. What made it all possible was the invention of the written word ~5,000 years ago. This invention gave humanity the ability to pass knowledge from one generation to the next rather than relying on the oral tradition. It allowed the purity of the knowledge to be maintained. Thus began the "Information Age". History, Culture, Religion, Agriculture, Science, Philosophy, Education, Astronomy all become more available to more people than previously possible. Yet, today we are all driven by visual and audio stimulus influencing our behavior. The dominance of feelings over reason. Ironic. Fewer and fewer are reading and it seems there is less critical thinking. All we have and take for granted was born of reason.
