Four children were discovered safe after roaming the Amazon rainforest for over a month following a deadly plane crash, Colombia President Gustavo Petro announced.

"A joy for the whole country! The four children who were lost 40 days ago in the Colombian jungle were found alive," the leader tweeted. The siblings were left stranded in the jungle after their plane crashed on May 1, killing their mother Magdalena Mucutuy Valencia, Yarupari indigenous leader Herman Mendoza Hernandez and the pilot Hernando Murcia Morales.
