GOD'S WORD FOR TODAY
DAILY DEVOTIONAL
HELD RESPONSIBLE
READ LEVITICUS 5:1 THROUGH 7:38
“Sir, we found water damage that cannot be repaired,” the store technician said, holding the damaged cell phone. “Since water damage voids the warranty, there is nothing we can do. You will have to replace the phone.”

Michael sighed and thought, Why didn’t I check my pockets before washing my jacket?

“Suppose you sin by violating one of the Lord’s commands. Even if you are unaware of what you have done, you are guilty and will be punished for your sin” (Leviticus 5:17).

Just as Michael had to pay for his carelessness, the Children of Israel had to pay for their disobedience. This was true whether the disobedience was intentional or accidental. Ignorance did not void accountability. This remains true today. God’s people are still required to stay alert and follow God’s will. Thoughtful Bible study, prayer, and Christian fellowship are tools to ward off witless sin and avoid the needless penalties.

Hebrews 12:14 reminds the children of God to make every effort to live a holy life so that they can see the Lord. He is the promised great reward.

Challenge for Today: Resolve to please God.
