CDC Backed Study Reveals Disturbing Waning in COVID-19 Vaccine Effectiveness During Omicron
TrialSite has chronicled the work of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) VISION Network, which has previously demonstrated strong evidence in favor of the COVID-19 vaccines. The VISION Network was set up as a vaccine surveillance network and includes Baylor Scott & White (Texas), Columbia University Irving Medical Center (New York), HealthPartners (Minnesota and Wisconsin), Intermountain Healthcare (Utah), Kaiser Permanente Northern California (California), Kaiser Permanente Northwest (Oregon and Washington), Regenstrief Institute (Indiana), and University of Colorado (Colorado). Most recently led by corresponding author Jill M. Ferdinands, an epidemiologist with the CDC, and over a dozen physicians, biotechnicians, epidemiologists, and other researchers, the group published “Waning of Vaccine effectiveness against moderate and severe covid-19 among adults in the US from the VISION network: test negative, case-control study,” which raises real concerning issues with the unfolding COVID-19 vaccine durability. The results were published in the prestigious BMJ. Importantly, TrialSite also reports the American market is at this point resoundingly rejecting the COVID-19 mRNA bivalent Omicron BA.4/BA.5 boosters as according to CDC data just four days ago only 3.6% of eligible participants have opted to receive the booster dose. If there is a fall surge in SARS-CoV-2 cases, this could represent a real quandary. Vision Network Concern
