Good day brothers and sisters. It is the morning of September 11, 2022 as I write this. It has been 21 years since that fateful day that we lost thousands of lives and the two World Trade Towers in New York City. We all were amazed as we watched live as the second plane hit the tower live on television. I personally had just taken a job in Spokane, WA as a Retail Sales Associate for the United States Postal Service on the 31st, of December 2000 after having been the Post Master of the small town of Spangle, WA for three years. I was going to be able to sleep in a little on this day and go to work at 9:00 A. M. instead of my usual 5:00 A.M. I was going to be the Lead Sales Clerk that day as ours was on vacation.
I had decided to turn the news on that morning and just after 6:00 A. M. the news announced and began to show the first tower being hit by a plane. It all felt so surreal. I couldn’t believe this was really happening. Then a few minutes later the second plane hit the other tower. I watched in awe as the first and then the second tower had burst into flames. I continued to watch the news as I prepared to go to work as the towers both came down and all of that dust blowing across the city. Thousands of people including many firefighters, and policeman lost their lives as those towers came down.
I had grown up watching shows like Kojack and seeing those towers on the television. Many of the morning news shows throughout the years would show the towers. I remember in the mid 1990’s during the Clinton administration how terrorists had attempted to bring down the towers with explosives in the basement. That attempt failed, but here they were down to the ground in an ashen heap of destruction.
We all felt like our nation had been attacked for the first time since Pearl Harbor. We wanted those who were responsible to come to justice. We ended up in a war on Global Terrorism and we lost many lives of our nations servicemen and women fighting terrorism all over the globe. We were a nation that was hurt and crying out to the Lord. We wanted justice, His justice. So many people had decided to return to Church and pray for families of the lost and for our nation as we moved ahead.
Where are we today 21 years removed from that fateful day on a Sunday when fewer and fewer people are attending Church anymore? Have we forgotten that surreal day? Have we become numb to the pain of that loss? Have we given up on God? Look around us as so many of us are openly sinning against Him. We were so hurt and crying out to Him in so much pain. Now so many of us are trying to silence the Church.
I never thought I would live to see the day when those two towers came crashing down. I never thought I would live to see our nation so divided and so many desiring to openly sin against God. There is a remnant of the Church still faithfully praying for our nation and its leaders as we are still feeling the pain of 9-11. We pray that our nation turns back to God so that He may bless us. We are so hurt to see such division and hatred of God and His people. Our nation truly was founded on Christian values and we have been blessed with almost 250 years of existence in this world. It’s easy to blame God for allowing the events of 9-11 to happen to us, but it wasn’t His fault. It was the evil hearts and thoughts of men that brought down them towers and now attempting to bring down our nation.
Is it wrong for almost half of our nation to desire to be great again? Can we really build back better? Without the Lord and obedience to Him I will say no, it is not possible!
We need to turn our hearts to the Lord and His ways again. We need to allow Him to build us back better, beginning within our hearts!
Our whole world was affected by a pandemic and it was no accident. Again the evilness of the hearts of men brought about this global pandemic. It amplified the great division of our nation. We had those who trusted in God to bring them through and those who scoffed at God and His Church. Do not think for once that God wasn’t watching over everything. He was watching, but I don’t believe that He was happy with how we acted with one another. We are to love one another and Him.
He allowed Israel His own nation and people to be taken away and for the land to become barren and desolate. He allowed them to return. Look how long it has taken them to turn the land into the lush land it is today. They had to get their hearts right and to love one another again. They aren’t perfect, but they are blessed.
Now what does the Smart Book have for us today?
Matthew 7: 7-12 Amplified
Ask and keep asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you. 8. “For everyone who keeps on asking receives, and he who keeps on seeking finds, and to him who keeps on knocking, it will be opened. 9. “Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will [instead] give him a stone? 10. “Or if he asks for a fish, will [instead] give him a snake? 11. “If you then, evil (sinful by nature) as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give what is good and advantageous to those who keep on asking Him. 12. “So then, in everything treat others the same way you want them to treat you, for this is [the essence of] the Law and the {writings of the} Prophets.”
There you have it, keep on praying for our nation and its leaders. Continue to pray for the hearts of men. Treat others as you want to be treated by them. God will provide for us a way for our nation to become great again and a way to build back better.

The Lord bless and keep you, His face shine upon you,
