GOD'S WORD FOR TODAY
DAILY DEVOTIONAL
GOD IS FAITHFUL
READ HOSEA 1:1 THROUGH 7:16
An old joke tells of a young newlywed who called her minister, crying. “Pastor, Joe and I had our first fight! It was awful. What am I going to do?”

The pastor said, “It is okay. Every marriage has its first fight.”

“I know; I know,” She said impatiently. “But what am I going to do with the body?”

While most marriages aren’t as difficult as this joke suggests, Hosea’s marriage was especially challenging. Hosea’s relationship with an unfaithful spouse was an illustrated message of the relationship between God and His people. Israel had been unfaithful to God. The Israelites had worshiped idols and engaged in immoral behavior. Though God had reason to destroy Israel, He desired to restore it.

“I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the Lord” (Hosea 2:20).

God still draws people out of their sin and into relationship with Him. Though Christians may fail, Jesus remains a faithful, loving Savior.

Prayer Suggestion: Thank You, God, for Your faithfulness. Help me be faithful to You.
