GOD'S WORD FOR TODAY
DAILY DEVOTIONAL
REJECT THE ENEMY’S WORDS
READ 2 KINGS 19:1 THROUGH 21:26
There is a lot of negativity in the world: wars, rumors of wars, horrible tragedies, and people of position doing and saying despicable things. If a person were to really absorb all of the negative words floating around the world, he or she would probably crawl into a corner and weep in despair.

Hezekiah’s people heard some horrible, threatening words from the marauding king of Assyria. The enemy poured lies and threats into their listening ears. The people remained silent, but surely some wondered if King Hezekiah was going to save them.

Isaiah said to them, “Tell your master, ‘this is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid of what you have heard—those words with which the underlings of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me’” (2 Kings 19:6).

No matter what new onslaught came against them, God’s people were reminded that God was their Lord. His Word is stronger and more trustworthy than any other word in the universe.

Thought for Today: Listen only to God, and you will have courage and rest in the darkest day.
