The war against beauty...

One of the great tragedies of modernism for the last ninety years. Is the quest to destroy the beauty of everything in our world. Now I don't mean beautiful people or nature. That's a subject that was so divided even before modernism took hold after WW2. I mean beauty in art, architecture, home decor, industrial design, and even film.

A big sign of this is if you look at all the buildings built after the Depression and WW2. From 1929- 36 art deco and Greco-roman design were everywhere. It gave way to the term "Form follows function," simple angles and boxes. All decoration was to be removed in favor of simple shapes. Color too was watered down to greys and earth tones.

Then it became a global movement to remove cultural connections to the past. Hell, art itself has become so lazy and bad, someone duct-taped a banana( a real one) to a wall and it was sold for millions of dollars. I'm not kidding it actually happen.

Film and games in the scifi genera have managed to squeak out some cool and even beautiful designs for future worlds... however, even that has become more cut and paste in the last ten years. There have been a couple of gems here and there, but it's not like it used to be. The last four Star Wars films and Star Trek (Dark Trek) series of late are a very good example of this.

You would think with all the progress made with computers and additive manufacturing (I.E. 3d printing) we would have gone wild with it. Making a world we could inspire awe and... unite us and on an artistic and cultural level. Instead, everything is still plain, dull, muted, and simple boxes. It's almost like they are too afraid to even try. Also, they tare down statues and set monuments on fire. Build nothing in its place save for the so-called victim monuments that were a lie to start with.

Sir Roger Scruton pointed out that those that are doing this are "Spoiled middle-class teens that know nothing about the real world or the people they are protesting for." He pointed this out in a book titled "Reclaiming Beauty,"

Now I'm not against anything you consider beautiful, art styles you like, or if you like bland modern architecture. Nor, do I look down on those who make their living off it. To each their own. "I'm a jack of trades and master of none but myself." and even that's sketchy at the best of times... I'm my own worst critic.

So, how do we break this cycle? To bring back beauty into this world of ours. It's not hard or even has to be all that pricy either. It does require some research. You can start with your home, apartment, or an ugly wall in an alley. Look up some architecture or even some concept art from sci-fi films and games. Look up books on Theater and Stage technologies, they are a good source of affordable ways to make anything you want accurate on a low budget.

One more thing to do is you can make it to your tastes and share it with others out there like you. YouTube also has thousands of tutorials to help you as well. Don't be intimidated if you can't even hit a nail with a hammer... they do sell air nailers. You can also hire someone to help you as well as teach you. People really need work these days. So your options aren't too limited.

Skills are learned and shared.

One more thing... You can make anything you want. Even a temple of the Greek gods @#$!ing themselves if you want in all the positions know to mankind. The human form and sexuality is a beautiful thing after all. I'm not a Christian at all so I wouldn't be offended by such a thing. The Leftist "activists," mob rubs our faces in their tasteless ideology all the time, so a little payback would be...

Refreshing and Fair play, wouldn't you say?

We can rebuild and bring beauty in all its forms back into our culture. Maybe we can even inspire a new one. Not Ideologies and corporate pop logos.

That's a world I would admire and hang my hat on.
