The following video is a great example of passive inductance using a tunable loop antenna to boost AM radio stations on a portable radio. The loop is simply a 9 inch diameter coil of enamel coated magnet wire connected to an air variable tuning capacitor. The loop uses no power but when you tune an AM radio to a weak station, place the loop next to the radio, then tune it to resonance using the variable capacitor, almost like magic the weak signal is boosted to a listenable level.
